Introducing the Author
My name is Frank Fiedler and I’m a German business data processing specialist working for an international IT venture, presently stationed in the green heart of Germany (Thuringia), with a long standing passion for entomology.
I grew up with insects since I was 10 years old. My father, the specialist for Lepidoptera (butterflies), showed and teached me everything I needed to know to find my “passion” for collecting beetles. Thank you, Dad – it was and is still a great time with you!!!
The first time, I was collecting beetles from our home region in Thuringia, Germany – Cerambycidae, Curculionidae, Cetonidae, Chrysomelidae … everything I had found in the field. Later on, I specialised my research in Lucanidae (stag beetles) especially the genus Lucanus. I oriented my studies in the field of Lucanidae (especially the genus Lucanus) of the Nearctic, Palaearctic, Mediterranean and Oriental Regions.
I published my first research paper “Beetles World” in cooperation with Dr. Klaus-Dirk Schenk in 2006. In this year the name for the new discovered Neolucanus from Laos was given and it was described as Neolucanus fiedleri sp. n.
Since then I have had the honor to collaborate with many entomologists from all over the world. If you want to get in touch with me or you need any assistance in Lucanidae, don’t hesitate and send an email to info[at]wonderful-insects.de
